Oh Canada | Stratford

As a Canadian, I’m often asked what it’s like in Canada – so I’ve decided to share some of my favourite places in this beautiful country with you.  I’m a lover of theater, however, I cannot act for the life of me!!  Instead, I like to sit back and enjoy the story told through the talent of the cast.  Every time I get the chance, (and a craving to see a good play/musical) I head to Stratford, ON and fall in love with the tiny town all over again!  Below are some photos from my most recent visit. Enjoy!  Warning: This post is very photo-heavy.  But a little heaviness never hurt anyone, now – has it? 😉

The buildings are just so old-fashioned and all-around beautiful!  Above is the gift store for the Stratford Shakespeare Festival and the lovely flag!

When you drive into the Festival you are surrounded by nature’s beauty.  There’s a lovely lake outside of the building, and a garden you can walk through during intermission or while waiting for the play to start.  It is a very romantic place, and often couples are seen walking along the shore.  When I was there last, we luckily were in time for an art sale – I scored some beautiful photographs along with my lovely items from the gift shop!

The play I saw that day was West Side Story – but they also feature Shakespearean plays for the more poetic romantics out there.  Let me tell you, all of their plays are amazing!! I’ve only seen Hello Dolly! and West Side Story – but out of all the ones I’ve seen, those were in my top ten.

During the intermission, if you’re not already headed out to the garden or lake – you should definitely stroll over to the balcony and either have a refreshment or people watch – the view provided is quite nice!  (and allows for great photo opportunities!)
