HyperKNOTiodism
Remember when I mentioned that my blood test showed that I had hyperthyroidism? (Or in my case – “hyperknotiodism”…) Well, I went to my doctors appointment and was prescribed some pills to help combat the bad hormones. Unfortunately I was greeted by one of the lovely side effects. Hair Loss. A girls worst nightmare? Yup. It’s not falling out in piles or leaving me with bald patches thankfully. But, I’ve noticed a whole difference in thickness, how easily knotted it gets, and how much comes out after a shower, or by simply running my fingers through my hair. The worst part are the knots – I have a knot the size of Kansas right now, and it’s so frustrating because the more I brush the more hair I lose. (and it hurts!) I’m calling back my doctor tomorrow to see what can be done. But until then, I’m just going to try to stay positive and not let this get me down. I can embrace this. 🙂 The worst thing that can happen will be that my hair won’t be as thick as it was, but I’m sure after a while it’ll get back to normal! I bought some CHI conditioner (heard it’s really good!) so I can try to get rid of this knot….wish me luck?
On other news, I finally got myself a library card since we moved, and it only took about 3 years? wow. I borrowed some fashion illustration books and I’m loving them! I’ve always loved fashion and sketching so I’m thinking that this may just be my niche. Anyone have any book recommendations? Fashion related or not, let me have ’em! 🙂

oh 🙁 don’t worry about the hair loss, I’m sure the doctor can change the treatment or you can take something extra for it 🙂
btw, I’m sorry for the delay, I swear the letter will be sent this very week, before the holidays!!! 🙂
Thanks! I’m trying not to worry too much about it. 🙂
Ahhh! You got it? yay! That’s okay – don’t worry, take your time! 🙂
Hi Natalie! I just want to ask what’s the latest with your hair condition? Did it improve? I was also diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, and it’s been a long time that I didn’t take medicine for that. The last time i had my blood tested, it was normal so I was confident that I was doing ok, But these days, I noticed that I also shed a lot of hair and it makes me worry a lot… I’m also planning to go to the doctor this week..
I know this post was written a long time ago, but do you still have the same problem with your hair? I was going to suggest a leave in conditioner. Also de-tangler spray works well too! 😀
Thankfully, I don’t get knots anymore but my hair is still thinning out majorly… I’m surprised I still have some left. Everyone says it doesn’t look like it but when it’s wet I can tell. Thanks for your suggestions!
