I recently came across the world of Tophatter – what is this dandy Tophatter you ask? The website has been lovingly grown in Palo Alto, CA since December 2011. Tophatter has fostered a wonderful community of buyers & sellers, who have come to develop friendships that extend far beyond the auctions. The rooms are full of passion, excitement and most importantly, fun. Tophatter blogs, tweets, and pins – be sure to follow them if you feel inclined!

// How’s it work?

Basically after you’ve signed up, you make yourself a little character which allows you to bid on listings.  Once you chose an auction to participate in you’ll see a cute little cartoon auctioneer on the screen. You’re standing in the back row and you’re ready to start bidding! You can also interact with others in the chat located underneath the auction. On the right is a photo of the current item and the going price, to bid you simply click the button. Make sure to pay attention, as you may lose the bid if someone bids higher – but most importantly have fun!
