The Acadamy of Art for ME!

Hi loves, I have some amazing news; I may be *going* to a university for fashion, and the best thing is that it’s all online!! While I fell in love with FIT during my trip to NYC in April, (hello, they have HOT PINK chairs!! and are just plain amazing) I feel that I’m not yet ready for such a huge step and commitment in my life at this point. I would have to move to New York, attend school, and get a job while it’d be my first time moving out.  I know it’s possible, but I’m not that great at dealing with major stress, so instead of giving up my dreams – I’ve looked into taking courses online and seeing where it takes me. I may still attend FIT or move to San Francisco. Who knows!!

Fast forward to last night; this lovely lady Julie called and asked for Natalie, I said “That’s me!” and she said she was calling about my interest in their school. I immediately flipped. Hah. I got all nervous, but immediately calmed it down to casual excitement. (ohhh boy…)  We got talking and the conversation turned to my internship, which I was glad to go on and on about. It’s one of the things in my life I’m most grateful for. (Thanks Jenn!) She seemed so interested, and asked how I got the internship. Basically thanks to Google I got it by browsing and connecting with Jennifer Lilya. I then told Julie about my blog, and got some more information about the school. Which sounds pretty great!! I’m dying to “go” back to school, and I’m pretty tech-savvy… I have my computer on mostly the whole day anyways. (I’m not on it all day, mind you.)  I think this will be a good fit for me. I also got my “first” homework assignment, haha! Not quite but hey.. She told me to check out the lovely designer who is teaching the program; Gladys Perint Palmer.  Check out her amazing work, you won’t be disappointed!

All my life; I’ve been interested in fashion, in one way or another. My mom always laid my clothes out for me, leggings and a sweater – and needless to say I hated it. Who would have know I’d be picking the same things now in 2012?!  I counted down the days till I was old enough till I could dress myself.  As a kid, I always told ladies who I thought were beautiful that they were pretty. I liked their “big girl” outfits and hair-dos. I was always colouring pictures and drawing things for people, and still am!! (Does anyone want a custom fashion illustration? I’ll do some free for my beloved readers!) But I never really thought there were career opportunities for me that would suit me 100% and fill my fashion and drawing needs. Also I go through many phases, and thought that my passion for fashion was a phase, but that has been proved wrong since it keeps coming back to me.  Sorry Chapters – you and your fashion aisle aren’t rid of me yet!! Wish me luck in my pursuit for fashion education!! xxo

If you’re interested in pursuing a career in fashion online – give this page a read! (you can also watch videos of sample lectures, etc)

  1. That’s awesome! 🙂 I’m actually doing the same thing but for illustration/graphic design. I also love the online aspect. I think it’s wonderful.
