And she’s back AGAIN + update

So I’ve been off and on, and lately gone for 2 months … if you’re still checking up here then I’d like to tell you I’m finally back!!  I’ve had a tough few months due to personal reasons which brought me down mentally and physically.  I sank into a deep depression one of the worst I’ve been in. The reasons being (I’m thinking) spring blues, my abuela passing away, the funeral, etc. She was a lovely, kind, caring grandmother and I was lucky to have her in my life. I’ll always remember her.  My depression got to the point where I was in deep “hibernation” I avoided people, my loved ones, my cats, facebook + any electronic communication, and was basically not taking care of my self mentally and physically (including hygiene -yuck!!) I was one sad, smelly chick! So here’s a huge thanks to all my friends and family who have to deal with me and my mood swings & occasional “hibernations”Also a big thanks to my dearest twin Lindsey for giving me a gentle but affective eye-opener – it really helped. If anyone is experiencing depression and needs someone to talk to, I’m here for ya.  Or if you know someone who is – please be patient, with your help it gets better.

NOT.

With that said. I’ve decided to keep track of my moods in a journal so I won’t fall into a depression mode again, that plus an addition to my medication will hopefully sort things out.  I’ve been feeling much better and am happy to be back to my smiling self.

Above is what I’ve been up to since my New York trip in April. Courtesy of Instagram.

I’ve been loving my arm candy, finished my DIY jewelry box, started a lifestyle change towards my dream body, bought a new book, worked on my frame wall, and much more! (which will soon follow in posts!!)

  2. I’m so glad you’re back! It was very brave of you to speak out about your depression, I hope this helps in your healing process.

  3. Natsie, I’m so glad you’re back. I know you said something about the hard time you were going through earlier this year, and you were often in my thoughts. I just like being left alone when I’m going through something similar, so I thought perhaps you’d appreciate some space. Let me know if you’d rather be bugged to death! ♥

    1. Aww Cathie – you’re the best!! xxo Thanks for thinking of me, and that’s true. I like being left alone, but the occasional uplifting messages definitely help! Maybe bugged to death but like a butterfly? (every once in a while) I’d assume butterflies wouldn’t bug as much? LOL!

  4. How can you tell if you’re starting to have depression? I’ve read the information on the site, and whilst helpful I am still uncertain if I am starting to have a period of depression. I don’t know as I don’t have any overwhelming sense of sadness or feeling worthless. Rather I can see some changes in my behaviour, like a marked increase in spending time at home alone, and whilst I still go out with friends, I find it a little difficult to keep up social interactions with new people. However, there is no change in my interaction with close friends. My sleeping patterns have changed as I have can’t sleep till after 3am each night, and I’ve started neglecting some minor household chores. I realise that the symptoms and types of depression are numerous, but are there some common signs? The ones that are listed, I don’t think that I have. Anyhow thanks for any suggestions or advice.

    1. Hi dear, thanks for having the courage to leave a comment like this!

      You can tell by:

      eating/appetite changes (more or less)
sleeping pattern changes (going to bed later + sleeping in, or not sleeping at all, or very little, etc)
feeling sad, numb, no engery, worthless, like you’re burdening family/friends.
purposely staying at home instead of going out when invited (making excuses, or just can’t seem to have the energy)
      irrability
loss in things you loved doing before
      trouble concentrating or making decisions
      unexplained aches and pains

Here’s a good site that may help: http://www.depressionhurts.ca
