Grandmas, Abuelitas & Visits!
Today I’m visiting my abuelita in the nursing home, she just recently moved almost 2+ hours away into a home near her daughter, my lovely aunt. I never thought I’d visit her in any place other than her own house – since she’s a feisty little trooper (she had leukemia and other tough things happen) but I guess we all get old and need assistance. It’s just hard not being able to see her after a short drive anymore. But oh well! It’s worth seeing her in the end, no matter how much time is spent getting there. Above is a cute little picture of one of my first pictures with her and a funny one to boot! Ignore the flash, just refer to me as the flash-baby. Enjoy! xxo (Shouldn’t wearing pants on your head be the latest trend? Like totally!) Anyways, I won’t be on the blog-o-sphere until later on in the day, so email me if you need anything! Have a wonderful weekend everyone – enjoy it and make it the best! xxo Ta-ta!

I moved my mother to assisted living in May, the calendar said it was around Mother’s Day. It didn’t feel that way. She lived in our home for four years, but one day she handed me the phone book and asked if I could find my phone number for her . . . she wanted to call me. She has adjusted to her new home, as well as can be expected. Recognizes me when I visit, but she can’t call me by name. I’m learning to cherish moments . . . let the hours while away.
It’s tough isn’t it? I’m sure doing that around Mother’s day was just awful!! That’s really sad. One of my worst fears just came true during the visit, she forgot my name and called me someone else. (it was a dim room though and she corrected herself later) – it was still upsetting as I had just chatted about it with my dad on the way up. I bawled on the way back, and then slept the rest of the way home. I just wish I could be there more often, but I will give it my all, and make the hours I have with her the best. 🙂
My nana just went into hospital and will probably end up in a resthome too. It’s sad, because she loves her house and garden, and more importantly, her independence.
Awwe, well I hope your nana adjusts well – it’s always tough. If you ever need anyone to talk to let me know! xxo
Nice pictures Natalie, and I’m glad you could see your abuelita 😀
I’m going to see mine too, she’s 96 already and she loves her great-grand-son… my son 😀
Oh, and I’m back around to the blog-o-sphere, yay!
