Just A Penpaling Away…
I love receiving mail and sending it, but let’s be honest here..whenever you go to the mailbox, all you want in there is something exciting for you! Sorry bills, advertisements, and those stupid campaign calendars – you’re not as mind-blowing as you think. I’ve started a memory box for the more important (aka special) pieces of mail I’ve received. Here’s my box at the moment. 🙂
I’ve always loved writing letters, so I decided to find a penpal again, well okay, I never actually had one when I was younger. (opps!) Unless you count in-town penpals, they don’t count in my book. haha. I found Irene @ http://mehehperdido.wordpress.com through the blog world and she is the sweetest person ever – the best part, she lives in Spain!! I’m spanish and hoping to re-learn spanish over the summer. Now I know someone in Spain, yay!! I would love to travel there in the future, a girl can dream…better start saving up now, eh?

Anyways back to penpaling – I forgot to check the mail today, and completely forgot that I was expecting a reply from her, well in short.. I got it! I may have squealed a bit from excitement, but that’s normal right? 😉 Here’s some photos of the package, isn’t her writing lovely? She’s so talented too! She made me a cute mini tour guide for Spain. (for Pay It Forward!) I adore it! (my unfinished peacock painting is in the background, almost done!!) yay!!! I’m glad you like it!! I put a lot of effort in doing it! in fact it’s the first mini or not mini notebook I’ve ever made and I thought it would be a good idea to make it about my city so when you come to visit, you will know a bit more 😉

Oh, that is awesome! I, too, just got back to penpaling which I’ve been doing since I was a kid (unfortunately, I lost most of those contacts). But I still keep up with my penpal from the Netherlands and have recently begun writing to a new penpal in New Mexico. Hey…if you could ever use another penpal…hint, hint. Good penpals are hard to come by. So…is the little booklet your friend sent a handmade gift for you, or is it one of those books that circulate around the globe between various penpals and when filled up, returns to you? I did one of those once…and haven’t had any return to me…but then again, I’ve moved some 8 times since then.
